Summitsbase Home Page

This web site is aimed primarily at Radio Amateurs who participate in our Summitsbase HuMPs Awards (HEMA), our Summit to Summit Awards, or Wainwrights on the Air (WOTA), etc. See info below under 'This Website'.

Summitsbase Latest News, Reports & Info

The 'Latest News, Report & Information' is, in essence, a 'rolling' News page. News items will appear as soon as possible after they have been received from contributors but will 'drop off' the page eventually and will appear in the Rolling News Archive.

Summitsbase runs a HuMPs Awards Scheme (HEMA) for both activators and chasers) based on HuMPS excluding Marilyns (i.e. excluding SOTA summits). This Award scheme started on January 1st 2012 and only HuMPS activated or chased from that date count toward these awards. For full details click on the photograph.

Summits Information

The main WiKi is where HuMP and Wainwright summit information is stored (view by 'clicking' on photo). This information is constantly being updated and you are encouraged to contribute by adding routes and/or extra or 'missing' information. However, when adding routes, use your own information and please do not just copy the routes from other sources.

Flickr Photographs

There are literally many thousands of photographs of summits, summit activators and portable equipment on summits that you can look at. You can look here for the Flickr Summitsbase HuMPs group or here for the original Flickr SOTA group.

The main Wiki is a repository for information that would be useful for people ascending summits but there is also provision for equipment reviews and any other information you would like to share. You are welcome to make positive, relevant contributions to it. As there is an amount of trust involved you need to log on to use some features of the site including facilities such as editing pages (where permitted), and areas currently under development. Any user considered to be misusing these facilities will have their registration withdrawn without notice.

When you register to use the site, your callsign will become your username. Registrations without a verifiable callsign will not be validated.

The site has been developing since March 2008 but there are inevitably always some sections of information that are not as detailed as we would like (e.g. routes, parking spots for individual summits etc). Of course the solution is in your hands. If you are a registered user you can edit the pages with nothing more than your normal web browser.

The site administrators and contributors do not accept any responsibility for your safety or for the accuracy of any of the routes/information shown on this website. Please ensure that you have the correct knowledge and equipment to keep yourself safe in the hills and mountains.
